New Futures
Because every child and family deserves to dream
New Futures is situated in The Vintage Park Apartments which is located in Burien, WA. It is one of the largest apartment complexes in Washington. Opened in 1993, the New Futures site consists of 4 linked apartment units that have been caringly converted into classrooms, computer labs, and family meeting areas. The majority of the residents here are recent Mexican immigrants who speak only Spanish, as well as recent indigenous Mexican immigrants known as Tarascans, who speak a language which dates back to the time of the Aztecs.
New Futures partners with residents to develop holistic programs that respond to residents' stated needs such as After-school and Teen Programs. They also promote Family Advocacy, Literacy, and offer ESL classes as well as a full range other services involving children, family, and community programs. Ken Mundt, the Director of Development and Communications said, “Thank you so very much, for your generosity and, of course, PATCH’s commitment to the children and families we serve.”

Pictured in the background on the left are Ken Mundt and DC5 Business Representative Steve Bloom along with many of the children who attend the after-school program. The poster reads “Dear Patch Friends, Thank you for caring for us!”
